The biggest difference between vegetable chips and potato chips is where they start. Potato chips are made from potato. Vegetable chips are made from other vegetables — and the quality varies a lot depending on whether the chip is the vegetable, or just a potato/corn base with a vegetable flavour added.

Base ingredient

Coco Deli vegetable chips are made from the whole vegetable itself: Lettuce Chips from lettuce leaves, Mushroom Chips from oyster mushrooms. That's different from many "veggie" chips on the shelf, which are potato- or corn-flour based with added colour and flavour. Reading the ingredient list is the only reliable way to tell.

Flavour and texture

  • Potato chips: familiar, starchy, uniform crunch.
  • Lettuce chips: light and airy with a shattering crunch and truffle finish.
  • Mushroom chips: meaty, deeply savoury umami with a golden crunch.

How to compare them honestly

Both potato and vegetable chips are typically fried, so don't assume one is automatically "healthy" and the other isn't. The fair comparison is on the back of the pack: compare ingredient lists and nutrition panels side by side. What real-vegetable chips reliably offer is a recognisable base ingredient and a distinctive flavour.

Which should you choose?

If you want the flavour of a real vegetable and a short, readable ingredient list, real-vegetable chips are worth trying. If you simply love a classic potato chip, that's fine too — the point is to choose consciously. Taste the difference with the Coco Deli Mixed Box.
